foamcast® - lost foam casting process is an innovative pattern molding and casting process, refined & customized to suit all environmental conditions. The process is a hybrid of the Lost Foam Casting process.
foamcast® - lost foam casting process as the name suggests uses a Polystyrene Foam Pattern which is further processed to form an inert, fired ceramic mold. The Polystyrene Foam Pattern is dimensionally accurate and has smooth surface finish.
With the use of sophisticated aluminum tools Polystyrene Foam Pattern with no parting lines, no cores, and zero draft angles can be molded. In case of extremely complex castings the Polystyrene Foam Pattern can be easily glued together to create the intricate challenging surfaces.
In short the foamcast® - lost foam casting process achieves the quality and precision of the traditional investment casting process that was limited to small castings in larger castings too.
Non-proprietary terms that have been used to describe similar processes include: cavityless casting, evaporative foam casting, foam vaporization casting, lost pattern casting, the castral process, expanded polystyrene molding, EPC, Evaporative Pattern Casting, LFT, Lost Foam Technology, Expendable Pattern Casting, lostfoam, shellfoamcast, etc.
